A new arrival?? Well, she's 16, from Denmark and is very sociable. So far it's a great match. We will see as the days go by how it works out but I'm pretty positive right now. Not at all like last time & that's a very good thing. Since this is the start of spring break, we will have a few days to get use to each other and how things work for the last few months of school. Maybe we'll take on another exchange student next year...
A letter to a friend...
I can't remember when the last time we chatted was but it seems that my life has had it's ups and downs too, maybe not as drastic as yours (from what it sounds like) but a pretty wild ride all the same. Today we become officially parents to a 16 year old girl. She is delightful, so far, and I hope that the rest of her stay in the states will be the most memorable. She is an exchange student who was placed in a home that was going thru a bad situation and now she's with us. My kid is home for spring break from college, yes, my baby's in college! He loves being on his own but also enjoys working on his race car and that's what the summer will be about. His friends are going to join him the end of the week to watch him race.
I'm working at the local elementary as a paraprofessional but everyday my job takes on new tasks. I work with the kids in math (4th grade is all), I'm the webmaster/designer of the elementary school (I want to take the whole school district but that will take time) but they won't let me upload my own pages, I'm the secretary in the afternoon and when time allows, I help with the technology department. I love all I do! I love to get up in the morning and going to work, you never know what will happen once there - 400+ kids can be truly exciting.
To add to my madness - I went to a Dr.s office and now I may be their web designer along with the web-designer of a restaurant. I'll stay busy this summer with those two and my racetrack computer duties. The latter frustrating me also because the company we are doing business with (that produced the scorekeeping software) is a one-man business that has no sense of timeliness. Racing starts next Saturday and he's finally returning my calls from DECEMBER to close the year out and start a new year. My biggest problem is that I have NEVER run this software before so I don't know what/how he wants it properly used since my predecessor never bothered to learn the program correctly. I'm taking notes this time and hopefully won't need much of this guys help next year. If I do, life will suck big time!
